The theme of my picture essay is military travel. I put two of my fondest places on the essay. I am in none of the photos but I was there. Seeing these pics brought back some many memories. I hope that you will be able to see some of the beauty and tragedy that I saw in Sarajevo Bosnia and Incirlik Turkey.
We (US Air Force) were in Turkey under Operation Northern Watch. We patrolled the northern border of Iraq and its no fly zone. In Bosnia we were there simply to keep the peace. I hope you can access my link and view the pics. If you cannot please send me an email and instruct me of how to put a direct link on my blog. Thanks.

My Presentation
I learned a better definition of rhetoric. For the most part websites are all about the presentation. The more bells and whistles you have on a website the better your general reception will be on the web. The professor that wrote the article wanted to look at best practices for creating a rhetoric site. I believe this article is very relevent to what we have talked about thus far in the semester. We have been taught about the wow factor in a website. Too much graphics could push people away from websites. Its best to keep it simple, but find a happy median concerning graphics.

Presentations on Oct 22
MOO sounds to me like a new idea. I saw the resemblance of the program P.A.U.L.A. and MOOs. I think this could end up being the predecessor to real artificial intelligence. The way that MOOs can adapt to users but are able to exist independantly of its users. I could them making a robot one day that would be able to learn from its owner. Essentially what every human is able to do naturely this robot would be created to do also. I personnally don't like the idea but, it could be on the horizon for us all.

Ideas about Flickr
When I saw Flickr I thought of all the places I have visited in my 8 years in the US Air Force. I would like to do my video essay on some of those places. These are places that I would have never dreamed of visiting had I not joined the military. A few of the places I would like to highlight are Naples, Italy, Sarajevo, Bosnia and Incirlik, Turkey. I can't wait to get started! Those locations have such different cultures than what I am used to.

Presentation on Oct 8
I got the most out of Chris's presentation as a whole. I think he did a great job of actually teaching the class something productive. Most have just read from powerpoint slides, but he gave us actual proof of what he talking about. I have always known that programs like P.A.U.L.A. existed but I had never seen one. The life like qualities of the program is scary. But I can see how it could be done. If a person in his spare time could do something like this; what could the goverment or another entity with bad intentions do? I think as a society we are on the eve of massive computer simulated life everywhere. By this I mean the robots in the movie I-Robot may actually exist in a few years. Its just a matter of time before the movies become reality!

Presentation given on October 3
The presentation that Adela and Anderlynn gave was very informative. They stated some very interesting facts. It is very interesting how people can blog/video blog about their plain and simple lives and viewers find it so interesting. I imagine this is also how reality tv shows work. It is also very interesting how people have made so much money by blogging. Take the blogspot Rocketboom for example the presentation stated that the show is now worth over $4 million dollars, and it all started with an attractive woman who grabbed the attention of the viewers, with her looks. Not only do you have ordinary teens and adults blogging about themselves and their lives, you also have senators and stars blogging about their lives as well, and viewers find each equally intriguing, regardless of whether the person is famous or not. That is what I find to be the most interesting. It seems that blogging is bringing all varieties of people together, and maybe thats not such a bad thing.

Response to the Sept 24 Presentations
Rhetoric to me is still kind of a mystery to me. I like the way Rebecca's presentation was interactive. All things being equal website her presentation has been the most comprehensive. But some of the fill in the blanks were vague. Erin honestly I didn't get much out of the actual presentations. I will go back and read these two articles to see if I get more out of the actual article.

Presentations given on Sept 19
The presentations were good but I had trouble getting alot out of them. But I did see the value of rhetoric and how it applies to writing and computers. Rhetoric was defined in one presentation as "meaningless language as a means to impress". When using computers to write no one can "hear" an author's tone of voice. The author must use his/her words to impress the reader. Other examples of rhetoric was body language and warning sounds.
Before I took this class I had no idea what hyper text was. Now I am slowly beginning to understand its importance to the cyber world. You really can't have a website without it. The cool thing is that the hypertext is created while you are creating your site. I didn't know it but hypertext can even include links to audio and visual enhancements.

How articles classroom articles contribute to Writing and Computers
I believe that in both the presentations the underlining theme is the computer. More and more the computer is making the world a much smaller place. People are more likely to approach someone on line more than they would in person. Then the actual act of meeting that person in person is a little easier. Two companies can do business with each other from across the globe.
I didn't realize that a person could achieve fame from the internet just as some of the people in Ashley's presentation. That shows that the internet can even make you a star. More people are "connected" now than ever before. The audience that the TV has lost is now surfing the net. Which gives any and everyone a much broader stage to show themselves on.
