Presentations on Oct 22

MOO sounds to me like a new idea. I saw the resemblance of the program P.A.U.L.A. and MOOs. I think this could end up being the predecessor to real artificial intelligence. The way that MOOs can adapt to users but are able to exist independantly of its users. I could them making a robot one day that would be able to learn from its owner. Essentially what every human is able to do naturely this robot would be created to do also. I personnally don't like the idea but, it could be on the horizon for us all.

Ideas about Flickr

When I saw Flickr I thought of all the places I have visited in my 8 years in the US Air Force. I would like to do my video essay on some of those places. These are places that I would have never dreamed of visiting had I not joined the military. A few of the places I would like to highlight are Naples, Italy, Sarajevo, Bosnia and Incirlik, Turkey. I can't wait to get started! Those locations have such different cultures than what I am used to.

Presentation on Oct 8

I got the most out of Chris's presentation as a whole. I think he did a great job of actually teaching the class something productive. Most have just read from powerpoint slides, but he gave us actual proof of what he talking about. I have always known that programs like P.A.U.L.A. existed but I had never seen one. The life like qualities of the program is scary. But I can see how it could be done. If a person in his spare time could do something like this; what could the goverment or another entity with bad intentions do? I think as a society we are on the eve of massive computer simulated life everywhere. By this I mean the robots in the movie I-Robot may actually exist in a few years. Its just a matter of time before the movies become reality!

Presentation given on October 3

The presentation that Adela and Anderlynn gave was very informative. They stated some very interesting facts. It is very interesting how people can blog/video blog about their plain and simple lives and viewers find it so interesting. I imagine this is also how reality tv shows work. It is also very interesting how people have made so much money by blogging. Take the blogspot Rocketboom for example the presentation stated that the show is now worth over $4 million dollars, and it all started with an attractive woman who grabbed the attention of the viewers, with her looks. Not only do you have ordinary teens and adults blogging about themselves and their lives, you also have senators and stars blogging about their lives as well, and viewers find each equally intriguing, regardless of whether the person is famous or not. That is what I find to be the most interesting. It seems that blogging is bringing all varieties of people together, and maybe thats not such a bad thing.
